Georgia Watering Restrictions

April 25, 2007 | Leave a Comment

If you have been watching the news lately you know that there is a wildfire in southeast Georgia. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the residents of Waycross GA and Ware County. The fire has been fueled by the fact that Georgia has experienced an abnormally dry spring. Some areas of southeast Georgia are as much as 10 inches behind on rainfall and the rest of the state has not faired much better.

Due to the lack of rainfall, Watering Restictions have been imposed statewide. Even numbered addresses can water between Midnight and 10:00AM on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Odd numbered addresses can water on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. No outdoor watering is allowed on Fridays or between 10:00AM and Midnight anyday. These restictions not only apply to watering your lawn but also include washing your car.

For everyone with automatic sprinkler systems it is time to reprogram your system to comply with these restictions. Let’s all do our part to help. Last weekend I heard one of the speakers on a local gardening talkshow discussing how our lawns in the metro Atlanta area actually look better and withstand the summers heat due to deeper root growth if they are watered thoroughly once a week. His advice was to water the lawn early in the morning and only more than once a week during the extreme heat of the summer.

I thought it would be nice to post at the beginning of each month with things to do in Atlanta for the month. Please understand that this may not be a complete list of everything that you may want to do, however it could be a good list to start from.

We should start with Atlanta Braves Baseball. The season starts this week and of course continues through the summer. On the 13th thru the 15th The Atlanta Dogwood Festival will be held at Piedmont Park. On the 14th thru the 30th the Georgia Renaissance Festival will be held. For information call 770-964-8575. The Atlanta Film Festival will be held from the 20th thru the 28th. On the 21st and 22nd you could enjoy the auto show and swap meet at Horse Power at The Park, which will be at the Georgia International Horsepark.

This is just an example of some of the events happening in the Atlanta area for the month of April. If you have an event that you would like to have featured just let me know by adding a comment below.

April Fools Jokes

April 1, 2007 | Leave a Comment

Happy April 1st everyone. Over the years there have been some fantastic April fools jokes. I remember several years ago when Sean Hannity, Mr. Conservative, fooled some of his listeners into believing that he was changing his position and was supporting Al Gore for president. Google, the mega search engine, reported that they were changing their algorythm and page rank was going to be replaced by pigeon rank.

It seems as though the intellectual minds at Google may have a little too much time on their hands. This year they have come up with one of the funniest April Fools Jokes I have seen or heard in many years. Check it out.

Happy Spring Everyone!
