Where Does The Money Go?

Today myself and six other agents from RE/MAX Around Atlanta toured a portion of the facility at Scottish Rite Campus of Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta. We started our tour at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and saw, in practice the care that these newborn babies were being given.
Next our tour took us to the Pediatric intensive Care Unit (PICU). Patients in this unit age from newly born to 21 years of age. With the vast difference in ages as well as developement of the body over these ages can you imagine how many different size blood pressure cuffs are required. The smallest would be comfortable around an adult finger. Different size blood pressure cuffs are just one of the many attentions to detail that a childrens hospital has to be concerned with.
The final portion of our tour was to the rehabilitation unit. We found out that the average stay of patients in this unit is six weeks. The rehabilitation services offered at Scottish Rite include everything from physical therapy to speach therapy and everything in between. We were impressed to see how the rehabilitaion not only included the patient but included the rest of the family as well.
One fact that was pointed out is that no child is refused treatment at the Childrens Heathcare of Atlanta facilities. Last year over 81 million dollars of unreembursed services were administed at these Atlanta Hospitals to children from all over the area.
After our short tour of the facility I think it is safe to say that our commitment to the auction to benefit Childrens Miracle Network and Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta on October 27, 2007 has been reinforced.
