Lake Lanier Real Estate

Named for Georgia poet and musician Sydney Lanier, Lake Lanier was created when the U S Army Corps of Engineers built Buford Dam to provide flood control, power generation and provide recreation. The lake is the primary water supply to Gwinnett County. Lake Lanier has 692 miles of shoreline and is 26 miles long. At the dam, the lake is more than 200 feet deep.

Today Lake Lanier attracts more than 8 million visitors annually. There are 68 parks and recreation areas, over 1,200 campsites and 10 full service marinas.

Boating, fishing and water sports of all kinds can be found at Lake Lanier. Lake Lanier Islands is a premier convention center that features a golf course, water park and hotel. During the holidays don´t miss the Christmas Light Display.
