Lawrenceville Real Estate
The city of Lawrenceville is the county seat of Gwinnett County and was incorporated on December 15, 1821. This makes Lawrenceville the second oldest city in the Atlanta area.
The City of Lawrenceville is named after Captain James Lawrence. Captain Lawrence was Commander of the Frigate Chesapeake during the war of 1812. While engaged in battle off the coast of Boston, Captain Lawrence was mortally wounded. As he lay wounded, he gave his men the battle cry "Don’t give up the ship!" These words impressed resident William Maltbie so much that he suggested naming city in honor of Captain Lawrence.
Like most of the Metro Atlanta area Lawrenceville has experienced tremendous growth.Whether you are looking for a home for yourself or your business you will be impressed with what Lawrenceville has to offer. Excellent schools, shopping and access to employment combined with plenty of greenspace give Lawrenceville that down-home feel with a up-town presence.
