Snellville Real Estate
Snellville, Georgia is located approximately 25 miles east of Atlanta at the intersection of US Hwy 78 and GA Hwy 124. Snellville was founded by two men, James Sawyer and Thomas Snell, who left England around 1874. The two men eventually settled into the area opening a general store similar to the one that they operated in England. The business grew and prospered, eventually needing expansion. The men differed on this and ended their partnership, both continuing to run stores in the area. In 1885 a post office was opened, with James Sawyer as the first postmaster. He ran the post office out of the back of his store. Snellville was chartered in 1923 with Gladston Snell as the first Mayor.
Currently Gwinnett County operates two parks, Briscoe Park and Lenora Church Park, in the Snellville area. Both parks feature tranquil walking paths and trails along with ball fields and picnic areas.
