Hail Damage in Atlanta

Tornado Hits Atlanta

This past weekend was one of the most interesting weekends the Metro Atlanta area has ever experienced weather wise. Friday evening about 10:00 a tornado touched down in downtown Atlanta. Extensive damage was done to the Georgia Dome, the Georgia World Congress Center and various additional buildings throughout the area. Airborne debris and high winds broke windows and lifted the roofs off of several structures. The SEC Basketball Tournament was suspended Friday Night and then relocated to Alexander Memorial Coliseum on the Georgia Tech Campus when it resumed on Saturday.

Saturday Was Even Worse

While Friday evening was exciting, Saturday was even more eventful. Starting about noon storm after storm seemed to be like freight trains running through North Central Georgia. Even though it could have been much worse, there were two fatalities. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families effected

Have Your Roof Checked

The news broadcasts have shown much of the visible destruction. What cannot be seen is the damage that hail can cause to a roof. If your home was in one of the area that received hail, do yourself a favor and have a qualified roofer examine your roof for any hail damage. It is much better to catch it now before you have water damage to your roof and attic.

Do you know the Hidden Tricks Claims Adjusters use to prevent you from getting all of your claim? For example: Did you know that after making a claim, an insurance company cannot drop you or raise your rates, unless it does the same for everyone in that county? Get Educated ! You need someone on your side who looks out for your behalf,

Email me for more information: Find out what the consumers we have helped say about our service! What do you have to lose? It does not cost you a dime!

Master's Roofing April 24, 2008 at 12:21 pm

Hello All!

I decided to jump in and introduce our company as well. We’ve been around for a little over ten years working mainly in the Woodstock and Roswell areas. We do roofing, siding, gutters, window screens, and many other miscellaneous things that could have been damaged by hail or wind.

We work with the insurance companies and adjusters for the homeowner. To say that Adjusters are using hidden tricks to not pay all of a claim is like saying roofing salesmen use hidden tricks to get them to pay too much. Most of the time when a claim is not completed with all the line items necessary to facilitate a quality job, it is usually just inexperience on the behalf of the adjuster or lack of knowledge from the consumer. So, having an experienced roofer talk with them is always a good idea.

Also, it is an even better idea to have your roof inspected before you make an insurance claim. Because, yes, it does count as a claim, and depending on your policy and previous insurance experiences and claims, they can drop you or raise your rates. Being a catastrophic event does not always mean that you get a free ticket in the insurance world.

If anyone is ever interested in letting us work on their home and/or dealing with their insurance company, please call our office or stop by. There is always fresh coffee and we are always willing to talk roofing… or fishing. :)

Sincerely,
Mike Portell

________ has over 13 BBB complaints, which is far more than almost any other roofer in Atlanta….._______ is close with about 6……most have 0-2. Do your DD with any roofer!

mack September 26, 2008 at 9:30 pm

Jerry, Thank you for your comment however I felt it necessary to remove the names of the companies you cited. The important thing that you brought out was that before you hire anyone do your due diligence and make certain that you are going to get what you pay for.

Thanks for bringing out this important aspect of hiring any contractor Jerry.

Thanks

Mary, Just as I informed Jerry this is not the place to trash potential providers. That should be handled via complaints to the BBB and I continue to encourage all readers to practice their due diligence and obtain recommendations prior to hiring anyone.
