Sales Tax Holiday for Energy Efficient Product

Starting today October 2 and continuing through October 5, 2008 The Georgia Department of Revenue via House Bill 948 and Senate Bill 342 is exempting both the state and local sales and use tax for specific water efficient and “Energy Star” products. The exemptions are limited to products with a purchase price of less than $1,500.00.
Water related items that are included in the exemption:
- Bathroom Sink Faucets
- Faucet Accessories such as Aerators
- Shower heads
- High Efficiency Toilets
- High Efficiency Urinals
- Weather or Sensor Based Irrigation Controllers
Energy related items that are included in the exemption:
- Air Conditioners
- Ceiling Fans
- Clothes Washers
- Dehumidifiers
- Dishwashers
- Doors
- Fluorescent Light Bulbs
- Programmable Thermostats
- Refrigerators
- Windows
These exemptions are intended for home and personal use, not for commercial use or to be used in the construction of a property and resold. Additional information is available through the Georgia Department of Revenue website.
