The Christmas Tree - Your Memory Lane

Over the years our family has collected christmas ornaments from various destinations that we have traveled too. Family and friends, upon learning of our collection, have elected to add to it. As we decorated the tree this week we once again found that we were taking a trip down memory lane.

When the “Babies First Christmas” ball went on the tree we remembered how excited we were when our son was born. He was born over 28 years ago. I feel certain that next Christmas we will be presenting he and his wife with a similar ornament as they are expecting their first child in February.

Collecting ornaments is actually easy. There are very few travel destination that don’t have some kind ornament. We have found them on cruise ships, ports of call and at every resort that we have visited.

Think about how entertaining decorating the tree can be as you travel down your memory lane with ornaments as your guide. The only downside to this is that decorating the tree can take additional time. Currently we have collected over 600 unique ornaments and getting them on the tree takes about 5 hours. But it is good quality family time.

Enjoy the Holidays.

Wow… we just ‘trimmed the tree’ this weekend with my husband’s parents. That took close to 4 hours or so. The lights take the longest. It was so neat. My son is only one and a half, but he loved helping. He placed a couple of ornaments ever so carefully on the bottom of the tree… it was the best.

Anna I’m glad your son was able to help. This makes for such a wonderful family time. Our unique ornaments took us over 5 hours after the lights were already on.

All of my ornaments are old and have so many good memories attached to them too! My favorite part of Christmas decorating is the hanging of the stockings - I still have my very first stocking that I used for my very 1st Christmas!

We collect them too. We gave our kids one every year. Had 3 and they are all about 30. If I could only remember. Eric

Got something to say?
